Today we do things on the web more often than ever before. That means it’s even more important for online services to be accessible. Designing for people with different needs actually results in designs that benefit everybody. That’s why we are committed to delivering an accessible website. Easy to use for everyone.
Below you will find a detailed list of what we are doing to support accessibility, but if you wish you can see a more easy to understand and human explanation of why we think accessibility is important.
This page explains:
- Our approach to making this website accessible, including what we have done and will do in the future;
- The facilities that we have provided for different user groups;
- Guidance on how to use particular features;
- What to do if you have any questions or feedback for us.
Measures to support accessibility
- Including accessibility in the way we design and develop our products as part of our Product Manifesto;
- Raising accessibility and inclusivity awareness through atomic design system methodology;
- Including accessibility checks during the development and quality assurance processes;
- Continually improve the user experience for everyone by applying the relevant accessibility standards;
- Providing continual accessibility training for our staff.
This website follows the Worldwide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level АА, which defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
We have partnered with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to achieve high levels of accessibility and an improved user experience for those with visual impairment. Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology
The The RIFT Hub website currently supports the following browsers: latest version of Google Chrome and the current and the previous releases of Firefox®, Safari®, and the Microsoft® browsers – Microsoft Edge™ and Internet Explorer® 11.
We have most recently tested it with:
- Windows 10
- Mac OS 10.14.6
- iOS 12.4.1 (iPhone 6)
- Android version 8.0.0

Screen reader/voice browser users
Our navigation mechanisms are accessible by screen readers and voice browsers.
Text equivalents of all images have been provided and the relevant page and table header tags inserted.
Partially Sighted Users - Changing The Font Size
We use a readable font size on all pages and allow it to be changed.
All internet browsers support this functionality through similar user controls. These can usually be found in the View menu and are labeled as Zoom settings.
We have checked the text and background colour contrast for the different colour blindness conditions. We never reference or distinguish items by colour alone.
Should you wish to change the colour of text or background, by introducing your own style sheet, please follow your browser's instructions on how to implement this. For example, if you are an Internet Explorer user, you can set your style sheet by going to Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Accessibility and pointing to a local style sheet on your computer.
We do not use any audio on the website; however the videos uploaded on the site contain audio content, but we always suggest uploading videos with transcripts or subtitles.
Users with physical or motor disabilities
We make sure our website has big clickable areas and that it is easily accessible for keyboard-only users.
Users with dyslexia
We use supporting images and diagrams and keep content clear, simple and with a consistent layout. We have 45 to 75 characters per line and ensure optimal line height to improve the reading experience for all people and especially for those with dyslexia.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions:
User generated content
We provide a guide for contributors on how to create accessible content but we cannot ensure the quality of contributions.
- Images: uploaded images may not have text alternatives provided.
- Documents: some downloadable documents might not work with current assistive technologies.
Some services require users to access external websites, these are controlled by third parties and so differing standards of accessibility may apply to these sites.
